For your convenience I’ve linked all the products I use straight from the Trellis Beauty website. I thank you so much in advance for supporting a local business here in Raleigh, NC!
Before we get started!!! There’s a special surprise when you make it to the bottom of this post. Make sure you don’t leave here without it!
I did it! I switched to clean beauty. The last three months has lead me on quite the journey, one of which I’m happy to have been on.
Before moving to Raleigh, I did a lot of research on the area, surrounding shops and businesses. The search led me to Trellis Beauty, a clean beauty boutique in Lafayette Village in North Raleigh. After reaching out to Tracy Trellis, owner of Trellis Beauty, she sent me a few samples of her clean beauty products. After the first day of using my samples, I knew it was gonna be a forever kind of thing!
So, what is clean beauty? “Clean Beauty is defined by brands that produce products that are mindfully created with the safety of human health, our environment, and animals in the forefront of their mind.” – Trellis Beauty
I Made The Switch To Clean Beauty
So, why did I make the switch? First off, I just wanted a clear face. I believe a clear face starts from the inside out, so I’m a little backwards on this one…but every step counts! Secondly, I just want to know what’s in my skincare. I’m tired of reading ingredients labels with things I cannot pronounce. Not to mention, the harmful long term effects of these ingredients. Thirdly, I want to feel good about my choices, know that I’m taking steps to be healthier and educated on what goes in and on my body.
What in the world took me so long to make the switch? To be completely honest with you, I was afraid clean beauty just wouldn’t work. And…I thought I would end up smelling like patchouli oil or nag champa. To say I was uneducated on the matter is an understatement. Are you ready to learn what I’ve switched to? Below is a full list of everything, and when I add something, I’ll be sure to let you all know!
- Ursa Major’s Fantastic Fashwash
- Maqui Berry Beauty Drops
- Beauty Whip * Put this in your fridge and use a primer before applying makeup – game changer!
- Au Natural – anywhere stick
- Fit Glow Foundation * Make sure to try before you buy. The foundation oxidizes after applying.
- Fit Glow Concealer
- Meow Meow Tweet Deodorant & Chapstick
- Little Barn Apothecary Cooling Mineral Mist
**One thing I’d like to make known, everything on this list I’m in love with, they all work and I highly recommend at least trying one item. However, deodorant is a tough one. The Meow Meow Tweet worked for me for about 3 weeks and then stopped working. I don’t sweat a lot, so that is working on my side. So, the hunt is still on for a working deodorant, but I will be using the Meow Meow Tweet till it’s all gone.
A few other things to note. It is SO important to have someone you trust in this area of beauty. There are so many products out there that have been green washed (text on product packing stating it’s “natural”, “clean”, so on and so forth, but if you look at the ingredients, it’s anything but!) Having someone whom is knowledgable and can be a positive resource is a benefit to you! If you live in the Raleigh, NC area, give Tracy a visit!
Also, I want to point out that there is an array of price points in the clean beauty category. So if price is an issue, look into making your own clean beauty at home! It’s effective and fun to make!
