I’ve had a couple of you reach out for outfit inspiration for holiday photo’s. Why are those things always so tricky? Maybe it’s not that it’s all that tricky, but just that we have to live with it forever on our walls if we don’t get it right…or at least live with it until the next holiday rolls around.
Holiday Photo Outfit Inspiration
I’ve rounded up so many outfits to get you feeling inspired, coordinated and ready to tackle your holiday photo’s with ease. Did I mention they’re very budget friendly…you’re welcome, boo! There are four categories; casual, glam, outdoor and jammies. Yes, people…jammies. Holiday photos in Christmas jammies are a tradition in my hizzy! The hubby doesn’t get it, but when the kids are too big to hold, married and with children of their own…he’ll eventually understand my need for photos like those! Now please excuse me while I go cry in a corner thinking my kids getting older…
I also included a category just for the fella’s and a few cute pieces for the little ones in your life! So bare with me, this post is going to be long, but you’ll walk away with quite a few options.
Let’s go ahead and start with the casual category, since I believe it’s the category you’ll all want to see most. It’s relatable, comfy and most importantly comfy. Cause who wants uncomfortable kids during a photo shoot? eh hmmm…not I!
For the casual category I put together easy, no brainer pieces that everyone is bound to have in their closet. I used three of my favorite holiday colors you’ll see through out the post. Red or maroon, green and all shades of brown. I also kept the shoe choice super simple. The colors I chose are so transitional and all you need is one key piece with one of these three colors to make any outfit work. All of these outfits are bound to make your photos look great!1.
The glam category has a few components. Dressed up glam and what I like to call “laid back glam”. The first three options are laid back glam. These outfits are great for the women who really like trendy fashion and arn’t afraid to rock a pair of matte liquid leggings. The remaining outfits are easy, clean and crisp. Perfect for those preppy inside holiday photo’s that take place mantle side with the fire going.1.
Who could miss a category like outdoor!? This is the most versatile category because depending on where you live, there are so many things you can wear due to weather. In the carolinas the weather might still be warm during your holiday photo shoot, so could rock a denim overall dress with booties! It might be a little on the cooler side around the golden hour, so you could throw on a hat, otk boots and a scarf. Legit endless options!1.
Hands up for muh fave category! You guys…I found some GREAT jammies! Get them before their all gone! You’ll regret it if you don’t! Also, check out the puppy pajamas – I cry!1.
FELLAS & LITTLE ONES
I wasn’t too strenuous on this category, just because the men and kids are so easy once you have a color scheme in mind. Once you have a color scheme, the rest falls into place. Go to the very bottom for further tips and tricks to compartmentalize the crazy that is holiday outfits!1.
- What outfit do you already have on hand that you’d like someone in your family to wear, or you’d like to wear yourself?
- Look at the colors of the outfit. Is it warm and colorful or black and grey tones?
- If the colors are warm, keep this pattern going within the other outfits as well. The guys can wear a solid color, you can add a layer and the kids could have some plaids or stripes. As long as the colors are cohesive, it will work.
- If the colors are grey toned, you may want to add some color within the other outfits so that the entirety of the outfits don’t end up looking flat. Two people can wear a grey-ish top and the other two or three can wear something warm to balance out the lighter colors.
Phew…we made it to the end!
I hope this post was chalk full of enough inspiration for you to create an outfit all your own! Or even pick one of the outfits I put together! Which outfit was your favorite? And if there’s anything I can do better to make your experience here at TPM a good one, please let me know!
