Welcome to my very first installment of Blogger Babes Unite! I’m so happy to introduce you to my very first guest, Erin of Erinlynnstyle.com/@erinlynn_style Erin has been blogging part time for one year now, but working full time as a manager at H&M. She has a true love for fashion that has sent her in many different fashion directions. Some of the those being a personal shopper, stylist and buyer for a few major brands in the industry. She’s bright, sweet and so easy to talk to…something you want in a good blogger gal pal.
Erin and I recently got together for a shoot in downtown Wilmington, NC. We met at Bespoke coffee to get acquainted before our shoot. After coffee and matcha, Erin showed me some of her favorite downtown locations she loves to shoot at. We chatted about how she shoots without a photographer, her style and how she keeps everything cohesive when it comes to her brand image. She has such an eye for shooting her outfits in certain locations and is a total pro, but can whip up something spur of the moment and you would never know it wasn’t planned! Check out her latest post about how she got over her fear of shooting photos in public. We each talked about our brands future, snags we’ve hit along the way, exchanged tips and tricks. It was so fun hanging with this babe! See Erin’s interview below and get to know her on a BBU level.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started in fashion blogging.
My name is Erin Foley, and I currently reside in Wilmington, NC. I’ve been in the fashion industry professionally since 2007, and it’s not an exaggeration to say I live and breathe fashion. Throughout my career I’ve been lucky enough to be a buyer, personal shopper, as well as work for two of the leading global companies in the fast fashion industry. After I went back to the corporate world, I needed an outlet to share my personal style, so fashion blogging seemed like the perfect fit. I absolutely love styling people, and sharing my shopping tips with anyone who will listen!
What inspires you to create content for others?
I get inspired to create content when I hear about how I inspired someone to try out a new style or trend and they end up feeling great in it. Being able to help someone boost their self confidence is the best reward. My readers keep me going everyday.
What are your strengths and challenges in the realm of blogging?
I think my strength in blogging is the fact that I’m real and approachable. I always try to connect with everyone, and genuinely love responding to every comment and DM. My weakness would definitely be the BLOGGING part..lol! I’m great about posting to Instagram consistently, but it really takes a lot of motivation for me to sit down and write an actual post.
Where do you see your business in the next 5 years?
In the next five years, I would love to be a blogger/influencer full time. This is a very saturated market, so I’m constantly thinking of new ways to grow my brand that is different than everyone else. I always think about a quote I heard on a podcast that said “The restaurant industry is very saturated, but would you ever tell someone opening a restaurant that they aren’t going to make it because there are already too many restaurants in the world?” That motivates me every day to keep pushing, and keep growing.
You take your own photos via cell and tripod, everywhere…What are some tips you can give others who might be shy or insecure about doing the same, in public places?
My advice for anyone who is struggling with taking pictures in public is to just keep practicing. The more you do it, the easier it gets. I also recommend shooting in more secluded places, or trying to shoot at odd times during the day. I sometimes shoot really early in the morning, just so I know I won’t run in to as many people.
Dream vacay spot…spill it!
My dream vacation spot is Morocco!!! I think the architecture is absolutely stunning, and I would spend all day shopping in their markets.
It was such a breath of fresh air to be able to hang with this gal! Hope you all enjoyed this post and be on the look out for my next guest. To inquire about collaborating on BBU, please shoot me and email at firstname.lastname@example.org and to tell me why you’d love to collaborate!
